Red Creek Farm is owned and operated by Jon and Carol Anne  Bailey Tholkes.  Our farm offers many different animal services, such as herding training, lessons, and events, obedience lessons, and pet  boarding.  We also breed Working Border Collies, Katahdin cross sheep, Reg. Brangus cattle, and commercial cattle. We enjoy working with all kinds of animals and helping people with their animals as well.

Red Creek Farm was bought as a cattle farm in the Spring of 2000,  With the help of family and friends, it was remodeled into a herding dog working facility, as well as continuing to be a cattle farm. Our house was built by family and friends using recycled building materials. We could not have done it without all of their help. Red Creek Farm would not have been possible without the help of Carol Anne's  parents, Mary and Hubert Bailey.  We are grateful for their ongoing support as well as the support of our friends.

The farm name comes from two of Carol Anne's two  main working dogs at the time the farm was bought, Red and Creek. Red passed away Jan. of 2006. Creek is now retired on a farm in GA.   These two special dogs were the inspiration of Red Creek Farm.

We were married August 18, 2002, under the big oak tree at the farm. Everyone brought their dogs, wore comfortable clothes,  and Littlefoot and Dusty (2 of our pet sheep) participated in the wedding ceremony. Our family includes about 90 sheep, 30 head of cattle, 8 Border Collies, 3 Great Pyrenees, 1 house dog, 14 chickens, 3 barn cats, 1 house cat, and 4 lizards. We  are members of the United States Border Collie Assoc., Georgia Stock Dog Assoc., American Border Collie Assoc.,  Association of Pet Dog Trainers, Oconee Cattleman's Assoc., International Brangus Breeder's Assoc., Southeast Brangus Breeder's Assoc., and Earle's Grove Baptist Church.

Jon is originally from Minneapolis Minnesota, but  has converted to being a Southerner, after living over half of his life in the South.  He works as a HVAC Technician for McGee Heating and Air and also has started his own home inspection business.  He also does herding lessons in his spare time. Jon has been training and trialing  Border Collies for herding for since 1997.  He has years of experience with training dogs in obedience and teaching obedience classes.

Carol Anne is  originally from Dawsonville Georgia, where she lived all her life before moving to South Carolina to go to Veterinary Technology School. In 1990,while still in school, she began to work at Happistance Complete Veterinary Care Clinic in Townville, where she continues to fill in from time to time. She is also a licensed real estate agent in South Carolina & Georgia. Carol Anne started working with Border Collies when she was nine years old, when her father (Hubert Bailey), first got the dogs to help with the cattle farm.

For several years now, Carol Anne, Jon and Hubert have worked together teaching herding clinics, hosting stock dog trials, and competing in trials together. We are also judges for herding trials and do a few event demos.
